and PROPER PRAYER

FOR CHRISTIANS

(FOLLOWUP READING TO “HOW TO PRAY WITHOUT CEASING)”posted here

These helps toward more perfect prayer are based on Jesus Christ’s instruction and His examples of proper prayer.

WHERE: Private as possible, alone, with the door shut. In secret, alone with GOD. In doors or out, a quiet place.

AMBIANCE: Quiet, Comfortable lighting, temperature and clothing.

BODY POSITION: Standing, kneeling, prostrate or sitting with both feet on the floor. Hands clasped, alert. As much as Possible, try not to be distracted by the senses of appetite, pain, discomfort, sounds, visuals, touch or Like stimulation.

ATTITUDE: One of Respect, focused attention, humility, expectant faith. A willingness to bow the head and bend the knee. Now, having read this, skip anything about it that diminishes your thoughtful, prayerful contact with God. Obviously, this is not the time to be multitasking! The California DMV requires its drivers’ attention to driving. Not grooming, texting, reading or writing! Not drinking or entertaining passengers.

NOTE: God hears your prayer, however you present yourself. What ever you say or how you say it!

We are the ones whose minds wander, forget, and detour our attention from GOD.

Multitasking for man is a myth!

We actually scan the tasks, dividing our attention to each one, one at a time, for short intervals!

GOD tells us that He is jealous. There is no one or thing before Him. He is unique, Primal, The inventor of Gravity. The Source of all Power, from which all things have come including US!

If we are to hear God’s voice, stop chewing, turn off all the audio stuff, park the car and close your mouth.

Meanwhile, while we are listening for his Word, we can read His Word! This will not keep us from GOD.

Paradox! Reading the Bible will help us understand what God says! (His written word can speak to us)

Now, we are ready for the three steps to PROPER PRAYER

#1 Salutation: Your Prayer is to GOD, this same jealous God, NOT anyone else! Not even His Son or a Saint, or Heavenly Being. BUT The Holy Spirit can take a garbled prayer, where we can’t find words to express our need, and interpret it for us! He can take a groan or gasp and God knows what we meant!

We can use whatever attribute to address God. Or several titles. This is to give us the mindset that we are addressing the Holy One, the Creator, the all powerful, eternal, perfect, gracious, merciful, all knowing, everlasting Deity.

#2 Confession: We pray for ourselves first. For forgiveness of our own sins,( an expression of our Faith.) Aware of our need of Salvation.

#3 Intercession: Now, God is listening to our prayer for all the good things God wants to do in this world.

The proper prayer is over and we properly end it with “IN JESUS’ NAME * amen.

The Father is pleased when we honor His Son.

--------------------------------------

The Bible records show where Jesus prayed: In the Garden, In the Temple, on the lake on the Mountain top and on the Cross.

Also, that He used this outline for His Disciples to pray.

-------------------------------------

God has promised to give us the proper things we ask of Him.

God gives us what is good for us even If we ask for something else.

NOTE: These references, BELOW, from the New Testament, contain the ideas listed above, We suggest that you use this article as a digest and look up the original copy.

We believe that we pray to the Father, Creator GOD.

”The hands are not to be doing anything else”

We close our prayer—“In Jesus’ Name” Amen.

We have Jesus as our Advocate. (High Priest)
