DEADLINE FOR EXTENDED ABSTRACTS

15 May 2009


The Call for Papers, with potential topics and submission details, is attached. It is also available on the IEEE-BTS website, www.ieee.org/bts. We invite participation from researchers, developers, service providers, and suppliers of technology, equipment, systems, and consumer devices, as well as content originators and distributors. Abstract submissions are due 15 May 2009.

Authors whose abstracts are accepted will be notified by 1 July 2009. Full papers will be due 28 August 2009. Abstracts should clearly explain the subject, originality and relevance. All papers that are selected must be presented at the Symposium by the authors or their designated presenters. Authors will be entitled to register for the Symposium at a reduced rate. At least one author must be registered by 28 August 2009. Approximately 20-30 minutes will be provided for each paper presentation, including questions and answers. Information on registration and hotel reservations will be available beginning in June 2009.

Potential topic areas may include:
" Technical issues associated with the termination of analog television broadcasting
" Repurposing of analog television broadcast transmitters
" Digital radio and television systems: terrestrial, cable, satellite, Internet, wireless
" Streaming, IPTV, VoIP, VoD, Mobile TV, Wireless Multimedia
" Wireless Broadband Networks; e.g., IEEE 802.22 Wireless Regional Area Networks (WRANs)
" Transmission, propagation, reception, re-distribution of broadcast signals

Call for Tutorials:
Proposals for half-day tutorials are also solicited based on the topics listed above.

Call for Panels:
Proposals are solicited for panels on technology, application, business, and policy-related issues and opportunities for the broadcasting industry.

Submit your 500-1000 word abstract via email to: bts(at)ieee.org - include author's name and contact information.
